Klaviyo Win-Back Strategy: How to Build a Smarter Reactivation System
Klaviyo can automate an excellent win-back program.
It can also automate a terrible one perfectly.
The platform is not the strategy.
The logic you put into it is.
Use the buying cycle first
Klaviyo recommends using average buying-cycle data to determine the delay before customers enter a win-back flow. (klaviyo.com)
I would go one step further:
- use median timing where possible,
- separate product categories,
- separate first-time from repeat buyers.
Use recency, frequency and monetary value
Tibi’s use of Klaviyo’s automated RFM segmentation is a strong example.
The brand triggers win-back journeys when Champions and Loyal customers move into lower-value states. Klaviyo reports that its strongest refreshed flows generated more than twice the revenue of the old generic flow. (klaviyo.com)
That is the kind of logic Klaviyo is good at operationalizing.
Use catalog intelligence
Tibi also uses catalog insights to recommend products similar customers bought next.
That allows a win-back flow to say more than:
Buy the same thing again.
For fashion, beauty and durable goods, that can be extremely valuable. (klaviyo.com)
Build separate flows by relationship type
At minimum:
One-time buyer
Repeat lapse
VIP
Subscriber cancellation
Do not build one monster flow with endless branches if separate logic is easier to understand and measure.
Use flow filters carefully
Make sure customers exit if they:
- purchase,
- unsubscribe,
- no longer qualify.
Nobody should keep receiving “come back” after coming back.
Measure beyond Klaviyo-attributed revenue
Klaviyo attribution is useful operationally.
Use:
- holdouts,
- Shopify revenue,
- repeat behaviour
to understand incrementality where possible.

The principle
Klaviyo can execute the logic beautifully.
